Six decades of education in Cilegon
Founded on 21 September 1967, Krakatau Steel Education Foundation (YPKS) now runs 11 schools from kindergarten to senior and vocational high school, four of them with Yayasan Pesantren Islam Al Azhar. Most pupils today come from the wider community.

From a steel project to eleven schools
YPKS was founded by the pioneers of the Trikora Steel Project as Yayasan Pendidikan Baja Trikora, to school the children of the project's families. After PT Krakatau Steel was established in 1970 it became Yayasan Pendidikan Warga Krakatau Steel (YPWKS) in 1972, and Yayasan Pendidikan Krakatau Steel (YPKS) in 2012.
Four units are run in partnership with Yayasan Pesantren Islam Al Azhar and follow the Al Azhar Islamic curriculum alongside the national one. The foundation's management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 21001:2018.

Yayasan Pendidikan Baja Trikora
Didirikan 21 September 1967 oleh para tokoh pendiri Proyek Besi Baja Trikora untuk mendidik anak-anak keluarga proyek.
- 1972
Menjadi YPWKS
Setelah PT Krakatau Steel berdiri (1970), yayasan berganti nama menjadi Yayasan Pendidikan Warga Krakatau Steel pada 8 Januari 1972.
- 2003
Kemitraan dengan YPI Al Azhar
Dimulainya pengelolaan bersama unit sekolah Islam dengan Yayasan Pesantren Islam Al Azhar Jakarta.
- 2012
Menjadi YPKS
Berdasarkan akta notaris No. 25 tanggal 18 Juli 2012, yayasan berganti nama menjadi Yayasan Pendidikan Krakatau Steel.
- 2024
Identitas baru
Pada 27 Maret 2024 YPKS meresmikan renovasi gedung dan meluncurkan logo baru yang selaras dengan Krakatau Steel sebagai holding.

Portal terpadu
Peluncuran situs baru dan portal SPMB terpadu untuk 11 sekolah.
